New Zealand blew away Vanuatu 5-0 to all but seal a place in the semi-finals of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Nations Cup in Papua New Guinea.

The All Whites scored three times within the opening ten minutes to make it two victories out of two in Group B at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.

Leeds United striker Chris Wood, who netted in New Zealand's 3-1 opening win over Fiji, prodded home the opener after a long throw in the fourth minute.

He then grabbed a second just moments later after latching onto a misplaced Vanuatu pass and slotting home past goalkeeper Seloni Iaruel.

Wood's day then turned sour, however, as he was forced off with a suspected dislocated shoulder with the game still only ten minutes old.

From the resulting free-kick, Michael McGlinchey curled into the net to essentially end Vanuatu's chances.

Rory Fallon added a fourth in the 19th minute with a clever bending finish and Kosta Barbarouses added further gloss on the stroke of half-time.

To Vanuatu's credit, they dug in to prevent any more goals in the second half but they have now lost both of their opening games so far.

In the second match, Fiji - who are looking forward to playing in the Rio 2016 Olympics - kept their hopes of progression alive by beating Solomon Islands 1-0.

Roy Krishna netted an 85th minute penalty to leave both countries locked on three points.

New Zealand will next face Solomon Islands, with Fiji meeting winless Vanuatu.

The Kiwis can only be eliminated if they lose and Fiji win, with an unlikely goal difference swing also required.

Tomorrow's games in Group B see hosts Papua New Guinea play defending champions Tahiti and Samoa clash with New Caledonia.

The top two from each group will reach the semi-finals, with the continental champions qualifying for next year's Confederations Cup in Russia.
