The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has signed an agreement with the International University Sports Federation (FISU) to encourage students, especially women, to take up the sport.

Both organisations will work together to organise multiple seminars and training events for coaches, managers and technical officials, with the ITU offering operational and technical support.

Joint educational initiatives to protect sport against the dangers of doping and violence will be set up.

ITU and FISU will also look promote sustainability, fair-play and integrity and join the fight against all forms of racism in sport.

"The aim of this agreement is to continue growing our sport together," said ITU President Marisol Casado, who is a member of the International Olympic Committee.

"We are constantly focusing on the development of triathlon, which includes identifying new and young talent across the world, so FISU is an ideal partner for that goal."
