Four-time Olympian Daniele Hypólito was among the winners on the opening day of finals at the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Challenge Cup in São Paulo as five different nations claimed gold medals.

Hypólito, the brother of two-time world champion Diego, claimed a silver medal on the floor at the 2001 World Championships in Ghent and has since won 10-minor medals at different editions of the Pan American Games.

The Brazilian claimed vault gold with a combined score of 14.125 after her two efforts.

Michelle Timm of Germany claimed silver with 13.850 while Annika Urvikko of Finland posted 13.700 for bronze.

Her brother Diego also claimed a floor silver with his score of 15.4003 beaten only by Tomas Gonzalez of Chile, with 15.6502.

Jumpei Oka claimed Japanese bronze with 15.000.

His team-mate Kaito Imabayashi took the pommel horse title with 15.1502.

Brazilian rival Sergio Sasaki managed 14.9503 for silver while Japan also took bronze courtesy of Fuya Maeno with 14.800.

Two-time Toronto 2015 Pan American Games champion Jossimar Calvo Moreno of Colombia took the parallel bars title with 15.550 points ahead of team-mate Afanador Sandoval, on 15.100.

Fran Baretto of Brazil posted 15.00 for bronze.

Venezuela's Jessica Lopez was the day's other winner, scoring 14.650 for uneven bars victory.

Brazil's Rebeca Andrade and Ngan Kim Bui of Germany shared silver after each posting 14.500.

Action in the remaining five events is set to conclude tomorrow.
