Eduarda Lisboa and Elize Maia will meet compatriots Juliana Felisberta and Taiana Lima in an all-Brazilian women’s final at the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) World Tour event in Fortaleza.

Both Brazilian pairings will miss out on competing in front of a home crowd at this year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, with the host nation boasting higher ranked teams in the overall world rankings.

Eduarda and Elize Maia, however, showed their ability by securing a 21-11, 22-24, 15-11 win over the United States’ Amanda Dowdy and Emily Stockman.

The pair then book their place in tomorrow’s final by clinching a 21-10, 22-20 victory against Vanuatu’s sixth-seeded Miller Pata and Linline Matauatu, who had impressed on their way to the last four.

Juliana and Lima had a more fraught semi-final tie, as the pair lost the opening set of their match against compatriots Rebecca Silva and Liliane Maestrini 22-20.

They recovered to win the remaining sets 21-19, 15-11 to advance to the gold medal contest.

"Lili and Rebecca had an excellent performance in this tournament, they started to play here without big responsibilities so they advanced each round quietly in a way,” said Juliana.

“Taiana and I went through the opposite way, we lost one of our pool play matches then we needed to change the way we behave on court.

“Now we are in the gold medal match and we will play against a team that is in a very good place right now, but Fortaleza is our hometown so we will play putting all our hearts and souls on it, like that match would be our last one."

Brazil celebrated further success in the men’s event after Oscar Brandao and Andre Loyola booked their place in the final.

The pair claimed a straightforward 21-19, 21-11 victory over Mexico’s third seeded Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen.

Oscar and Andre are now due to face the challenge of Germany’s Jonathan Erdmann and Kay Matysik, who recorded a 21-12, 17-21, 15-8 win over Chilean cousins Marco and Esteban Grimalt.
