The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) have announced that the draw for the Rio 2016 Olympic beach volleyball tournaments will be held at the Gstaad World Tour Major Series event in Switzerland on July 9.

Held between July 5 and 10 in the Swiss Alps, the draw will be staged on the penultimate day of competition as teams continue to step up their preparations for the Olympic Games.

Home fans could have huge interest in the draw, with Isabelle Forrer and Anouk Vergé-Dépré on course to represent Switzerland in the women’s event at Rio 2016, having been boosted by winning the Xiamen Open FIVB World Tour event in China last month.

Their compatriots Nadine Zumkehr and Joana Heidrich are currently one of the 15 highest ranked pairings, which would secure the Swiss team a maximum of two quota places in the competition.

Brazil have already sealed the maximum number of places in both the men’s and women’s draw, having been guaranteed one berth per gender at the Games.
