Registration has opened for the 4th Pan American Para-Taekwondo Championships, it has been announced.

The event is due to take place in Querétaro in Mexico on June 12.

The Championships, awarded to the Mexican Taekwondo Federation, will feature Kyorugi (K40) competition for athletes with physical impairments, as well as Poomsae (P20) competition for athletes with intellectual impairments.

The World Taekwondo Federation will also be looking to expand the reach of officials in the Americas through a three-day international classifiers seminar held alongside the Championship.

The seminar, including theory and practical elements on June 10 and 11, will come to a close on competition day where attendees will benefit from the observation of international competition.

It is hoped to raise standards in time for taekwondo to make its debut on the Paralympic programme at Tokyo 2020.

Registration for the Championships can be completed on the WTF system and is only possible with an approved 2016 WTF Global License.

Entries are due to close on May 31.
