More than 60 of the world's top Para-athletes are due to compete in tomorrow's London Marathon, including American defending wheelchair champions Joshua George and Tatyana McFadden.

The race will double as the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Marathon World Cup, with leading visually impaired, wheelchair and ambulant athletes all set to compete.

George's victory last year also clinched the corresponding T53/54 marathon world title, which was held alongside the marathon competition after it was decided not to hold it alongside the rest of the World Championships in Doha because of the heat in the Qatari capital.

The 32-year-old is joined by the likes of Britain’s six-time London marathon winner and reigning Paralympic champion David Weir and Australia’s two-time Paralympic champion Kurt Fearnley.

South Africa’s 10-time Boston marathon winner Ernst van Dyk and Switzerland’s 2014 London marathon champion Marcel Hug should also toe the line.

Hug will compete fresh from winning the Boston Marathon on Monday (April 18).

McFadden will be heavy favourite for women's victory tomorrow after dominating the sport in recent years.

She has won the marathon Grand Slam of Boston, London, Chicago and New York in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Switzerland’s 2013 world champion Manuela Schar and Japan’s Tokyo marathon winner Wakako Tsuchida should be among her nearest challenges along with compatriot Amanda McGrory, a two-time London winner.

Ray Martin will be another US contender in the T51/52 event while Brazil's Aniceto dos Santos will be a fourth reigning world champion entrant in the T13 competition.

He will be up against New Zealand’s former Paralympic 800 metres champion Tim Prendergast, who finished third in 2015.

Colombia’s Paralympic silver medallist Elkin Moreno is pre-race favourite in the men’s T11/12 event, with Japanese dueo Yuichi Takahashi and Yutaka Kumagai likely to be among his nearest rivals.

Japan's Mihoko Nishijima and Yumiko Fuji should also feature prominently in the corresponding women's race, along with China’s world 1500 metres champion Zheng Jin.
