Two-time Paralympian Zandra Reppe of Sweden posted the highest women’s compound score as the Rio 2016 continental qualification tournament began at the European Para-Archery Championships in Saint-Jean-de-Monts in France today.

Reppe, who represented her nation at Beijing 2008 and London 2012, scored 663 points with Ukraine’s Ksenija Markitantova ranked second on 658 and Germany’s Vanessa Bui third on 651.

There is just one Rio 2016 place available in the women’s compound, while there are two in the men’s recurve, women’s recurve and men’s compound.

Spain’s Guillermo Javier Rodriguez Gonzalez managed 684 points to top the men’s compound standings ahead of Ukraine’s Serhiy Atamanenko and Russia’s Aleksander Zubar, who were tied for second place on 680.

The men’s recurve was led by Italy’s Alessandro Erario, whose score of 624 points put him clear of France’s Maxime Guérin, second with 617, and Poland’s Ireneusz Kapusta, third with 606.

Just two points separated women’s recurve frontrunner Merve Nur Eroglu of Turkey and second-placed Annalisa Rosada of Italy on 599 and 597 points respectively.

Eroglu’s compatriot Zehra Ozbey Torun was the third-best performer, registering 585 points.
