The International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) has revoked its suspension of the Turkish Billiards Federation (TBF), who they banned in September for reasons that the governing body is unwilling to disclose.

The decision was taken at a meeting in Egypt, attended by Mohammed Kammah, IBSF secretary general, Ersan Ercan, TBF President, and Gokhan Salman, TBF secretary.

Also present was Farouk El Barky, vice-president of the World Confederation of Billiards Sports.

After the IBSF received a complaint from an unnamed member country, supported by another unnamed member country, a Disciplinary Committee was formed to hear the complaint and evaluate the evidence.

With the complaint found to be genuine, the Disciplinary Committee provided a report to the IBSF in which they recommended the suspension of the TBF.

The IBSF Board met in Bangkok on September 9 to discuss the recommendation and agreed with the Disciplinary Committee’s findings.

They suspended the TBF on September 20, subject to ratification at its Annual General Meeting during November’s IBSF World Snooker Championships in Hurghada, Egypt.

It was decided there that  that the IBSF Board should engage with the TBF and explore possibilities of closing the issue before the end of 2015, something achieved in December.

The suspension was lifted on the "express understanding" that the IBSF would receive a letter of apology from TBF snooker director, Muhammed Leysi, who duly sent one to IBSF President Capt. P. V. K. Mohan.

"I would like to express my apology to yourself and to your Board," read the letter.

"Hopefully, we can establish together a new page in our relationship based on mutual respect and trust for the benefits of our beloved sport."

When contacted by insidethegames to establish the reasons behind the TBF's suspension, Mohan replied: "We would like to inform you that the issues have been resolved and the suspension has been lifted thereafter.

"The IBSF treats this matter as closed and would not like to discuss this any further to maintain harmony in our sport."
