Canada's Charles Hamelin and Marianne St-Gelais added 500 metre titles to the 1,000m successes they claimed yesterday at the International Skating Union (ISU) Short Track Speed Skating World Cup in Dresden in Germany.

Thirty-one-year-old Hamelin, a triple Olympic champion, roared round in 40.251 sec to edge Russian Semen Elistratov into second spot in his final.

Another Russian, Dmitry Elistratov, was third as Hamelin continues to lead the overall standings in the discipline on 30,352 points.

St-Gelais, meanwhile, clocked 43.080 to edge out Britain's Elise Christie, the 1,500m winner from yesterday.

Bronze went to Dutch skater Lara Van Ruijven with St-Gelais closing the gap on China's Kexin Fan at the top of the 500m standings.

The triple Olympic silver medallist has moved on to 42,400 points with the Chinese skater on 43,198 ahead of the final event in Dordrecht between February 12 and 14.

Elsewhere, there was women's 1,500m success for South Korea's Choi Min-jeong, who lost out to Christie yesterday.

The quadruple world champion led a 1-2-3 for her country as Doe Hee Noh came second ahead of third placed Alang Kim.

Choi has a commanding overall lead in the 1,500m with 48,000 points ahead of another Korean, Shim Suk Hee, who has 36,000.

The men's 1,500m title also went to South Korea as Seo Yi Ra beat Canada's Alexander Fathoullin into second.

The Koreans also took bronze, with Kwak Yoon-Gy finishing third, but Dutch skater Sjinkie Knget leads overall on 43,677 points, ahead of Kwak.

Meanwhile, the men's 5,000m and women's 3,000m relays were held, with Russia taking the honours in the former ahead of Canada and the United States.

The women's race went to Italy, with Hungary second and Japan third.
