Gary McQuaid, the nephew of former International Cycling Union (UCI) President Pat McQuaid, has established a sports marketing agency called Altus Sports Management.

The agency will focus upon professional cycling, with the aim of providing an “individual management structure” which meets with the athletes’ goals and requirements.

McQuaid, who has served as a UCI certified rider agent for the past three years, wants the agency to provide expert assistance and a bespoke support structure to the cyclists who join, he claims.

It will enable the athletes to focus on their immediate goals, while the agency will try to help them achieve their long-term ambitions, said McQuaid.

In addition to their performances, the agency will manage the riders’ relationships with their team and the media, as well as looking to create commercial partnerships.

Among those already managed by the agency are Orica-GreenEdge rider Adam Yates, tipped as a potential Tour de France star of the future.

The 23-year-old, winner of the the San Sebastián Classic in 2015, is aiming to secure a place in the British team in the road race at this year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Fellow Briton Chris Lawless is also represented by the agency, along with the United States’ Tyler Williams and Luxembourgers Alex Kirsch and Bob Jungels.

Prior to establishing the agency, McQuaid has built up substantial experience in the sports industry over the past 10 years, having spent three-years in the communications department of Adidas' golf subsidiary TaylorMade.

He then worked as a sports marketing manager for eye-wear manufacturer Oakley, before becoming a rider agent.
