The quartet of Ingvild Flugstad Østberg, Heidi Weng, Therese Johaug and Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen completed the course in a winning time of 50 min 17.2 sec to continue their domination of the format at Nové Město na Moravě. 

They were 42.1 quicker than American foursome Sophie Caldwell, Sadie Bjornsen, Elizabeth Stephen and Jessica Diggins with the Finnish team of Anne Kyllönen, Krista Pärmäkoski, Riitta-Liisa Roponen and Kerttu Niskanen 55.9 off the pace in third.

For Johaug, it was her second win in two days after the Vancouver 2010 Olympic relay gold medallist won the women's 10km event yesterday.

"I like to start the relay but Ingvild was perfect today," said Weng, who gave up opening duties to the Olympic team sprint gold medallist.

"It was fun to ski the second leg.

"I am very happy that we won."

It proved to be a golden double for the Norwegians with the country also taking top honours in the men's 4x7.5km race.

Their quartet of Sjur Roethe, Martin Johnsrud Sundby, Mathias Rundgreen and Finn Haagen Krogh clocked a winning time of 1:08:29.   

Sundby, the overall individual World Cup leader and runner-up in the 15km race yesterday, opted for skate skis and was double polled on the second leg, and he quickly pulled away from the field.

Russians Evgeniy Belov, Alexander Legkov, Alexey Chervotkin and Sergey Ustiugov were able to give chase but eventually finished six seconds adrift.

Bronze went to Italians Dietmar Noeckler, Francesco De Fabiani, Roland Clara and Federico Pellegrino with an effort which was 54.3 shy of the winners.

"It is great to win the relay again," said Krogh, who steered his side home on the last leg.

"I still felt the race yesterday and was quite tired.

"I knew Ustiugov would be strong and he was closing the gap.

"In the last lap I knew I could hold it.

"The guys on the previous legs did a great job."

The World Cup season will now resume on February 3, in Drammen, Norway.
