Russia, Germany and Slovenia were among 27 countries split into seven qualification groups for EuroBasket 2017 at a draw today in Munich, with Kosovo also making its debut in the competition.

The winners of each group will advance to the Final Round due to take place in September 2017 across Finland, Israel, Romania, and Turkey.

Four best-placed runners-up will also qualify for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA)-organised event.

Russia, winners of the 2007 EuroBasket in Spain and ranked seventh in the world, will face Bosnia and Herzegovina and Spain in Group C just weeks after their suspension from the world governing body was lifted.

Thirteenth ranked Slovenia will be up against Ukraine, Bulgaria and Kosovo, the Balkan Republic competing in its first senior EuroBasket after being confirmed as FIBA's 215th National Member Federation last year.

Belgium, Iceland, Switzerland and Cyprus will lock horns in Group A while Group B consists of 2005 silver medallists Germany along with The Netherlands, Austria and Denmark.

Poland will face Estonia, Belarus and Portugal in Group D while Georgia, Montenegro, Slovakia and Albania will meet in Group F.

Group G is perhaps the most interesting, pitting Macedonia, fourth place finishes in 2011, against Great Britain.

Hungary and Luxembourg complete the group.

Each team faces each of their group opponents both at home and away.

The four co-hosts gain an automatic berth to the Finals along with EuroBasket 2015 gold and silver medallists, Spain and Lithuania.

Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Latvia and Serbia will also gain a direct spot by virtue of competing at the World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in July.
