Pippa Britton, Trevor Pearce and Sarah Winckless will all begin three-year terms as UKAD Non-Executive Directors in March, with Philip Carling, Michael Brace and Andy Sellers all set to retire from the board in March, April and June respectively.

Forty-two-year-old Winckless won a rowing bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 while Britton is a double Paralympian.

Pearce, meanwhile, had a distinguished career in law enforcement.

The new appointments have all been signed off by John Whittingdale, the Secretary of State for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

“I am delighted to welcome Pippa, Trevor and Sarah to the UK Anti-Doping Board," said chairman David Kenworthy.

"At a time when anti-doping is under the spotlight around the globe, I am confident that their wealth of experience and knowledge will be invaluable to UKAD as we drive the anti-doping agenda in the UK.

“The Board plays a pivotal role in maintaining a strong and robust governance structure and driving the strategic objectives of the organisation.

"Pippa, Trevor and Sarah will bring fresh perspectives on how we can grow and develop UKAD, ensuring that we continue to protect clean sport in the UK."

Winckless' bronze in Athens came in the double sculls with Elise Laverick, while she also boasts two World Championship gold medals.

Following her retirement from rowing in 2009, she chaired the British Olympic Association's Athletes' Commission and was Britain's Chef de Mission at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing.

In 2013, she was awarded the Sky Sports and Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Helen Rollason Award for Inspiration, and was honoured with an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2015 list for services to Sport and Young People.

Britton, competing in archery at both the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Paralympics.

During her career she broke three world records and also won medals at six World Championships, including two team golds.

She is also the chair of Disability Sport Wales, a member of the Elite Sport Sub-Group of Sport Wales, as well as a member of the Para-Archery Committee at World Archery.

Pearce, who has a CBE, spent 40 years in law enforcement before retiring as the Director of Special Investigations of the National Crime Agency last year.

He has served as Director General of the National Crime Squad and the Serious Organised Crime Agency, and was also recently appointed as a commissioner for the Gambling Commission.

The appointments come at a key time for the battle against doping in sport, with UKAD currently working with the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) to overhaul their testing system.

Russia was declared non compliant by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) following allegations of widespread state-sponsored doping in the country.
