This year's International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Grand Prix Final will be incorporated into the International Association of Athletics Federations Diamond League meeting at the Olympic Park in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, it was announced today.

Last year's event was also held at the Olympic Stadium but was a standalone event.

The 2016 final, however, due to take place on July 23 will see some of the world's best Paralympic athletes compete on the same day as some of the biggest names in the sport, including potentially Usain Bolt, as they finalise their preparations for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Britain's David Weir, winner of four Paralympic gold medals at London 2012, claimed integrating the IPC event into Saturday’s timetable will create a memorable event for the athletes in the 60,000-capacity Olympic Stadium.

“It’s great to be able to compete alongside Olympic athletes and I think integration is a really good thing," he said.

"This now means that the Saturday of the London Anniversary Games will be an amazing day of athletics and I’m looking forward to getting more great support from the British public.”

After competing at the London Anniversary Games in 2013 and 2015, seven-time IPC world champion Hannah Cockroft is predicting a great atmosphere for the Grand Prix, the culmination of a season featuring 10 events on five continents between February and July.

“The Anniversary Games is one of my favourite events of the year, a packed Olympic Stadium is a fantastic place to compete and it brings back so many great memories," Cockcroft, winner of Paralympic gold medals in the T34 100 and 200 metres at London 2012, said.

The 2013 and 2014 editions of the Grand Final were also held in Britain, at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.
