Double Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games gold medallist Eucharia Njideka Iyiazi has accused the Para-athletics Federation of Nigeria (PFN) of unlawfully denying her the chance to compete at Rio 2016.

Iyiazi, winner of the F57/58 discus and shot put events at the Paralympics in the Chinese capital seven years ago, was left out of her country’s team for the recent International Paralympic Committee Athletics World Championships in Doha.

The event offered athletes the opportunity to secure a quota berth for Rio 2016.

She claimed she has been deliberately overlooked in favour of lesser-ranked competitors and admitted the omission has affected her training.

Iyiazi, a bronze medallist in the shot put and discus at this year’s All-Africa Games in Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo, claimed her future is now uncertain and that the matter has been “demoralising”.

“My Federation is not doing things the way it should be,” she told the News Agency of Nigeria.

“I was supposed to go to the World Championships in Dubai by October ending, but to my greatest surprise, they selected people that were ranked 15th and 16th, even 20th to the competition, leaving me behind.

“So, I do not know the way they use to select athletes these days.

“In short, I am confused."

Iyiazi must now wait to find out whether or not she will be selected for next year's Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

“I don’t know whether I will be there or not," she told the News Agency of Nigeria

“When you train and people you know you are better than are being selected ahead of you.

“I questioned some people in the Federation about the selection, but they gave some reason that was not understandable to me.”

PFN President President Frank Thorpe hit, however.

He claimed tthey cannot "allow people to use sentiment to destroy what we are building".

"It is not possible," he said.

"If they have any problem, let them mention it.

"It is the sentiment they are using that I removed from the Federation."
