Latvia's Martin Dukurs continued his imperious Skeleton World Cup form by winning the third event of the season in Königssee in Germany today.

The 31-year-old, who has won the World Cup for the last six seasons, has now triumphed in all three legs this year with a combined time of 1 min 40.28 sec enough for victory after his two runs this time around.

Dukurs, a three-time world champion and double Olympic silver medallist, also broke the course record at the world's oldest artificial ice track with his second run time of 50.03.

He beat Russia's Alexander Tretyakov, the Sochi 2014 champion who finished 0.43 behind, into second place.

Tretyakov has now had to settle for second in every World Cup event this season, while third place went to Sungbin Yun of South Korea who was 0.88 back in claiming his first podium finish of the season.

The success of Dukurs means he has a commanding overall lead with 675 points, ahead of Tretyakov who has managed 630.

German Axel Jungk, who had to settle for sixth on his home course today, is third overall with a tally of 578 points.

Meanwhile, Canadian slider Dave Greszczyszyn used a sled decorated with a likeness of his grandfather, who celebrates his 100th birthday today.

He came home ninth, which is among the best results of his career.

The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation World Cup season will now leave Germany for the first time, with the next leg scheduled for Lake Placid in the United States between January 8 and 9.
