Brazil and Britain each gained three gold medals as the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Olympic Test Event concluded in Rio de Janeiro, with under 60 kilograms star Robson Conceição starting the success in the day's opening final.

Conceição, a Beijing 2008 Olympian who followed silver at the 2013 World Championships with bronze at this year's event in Doha, was up against Uzbekistan's Hurshid Tojibaev in the lightweight division, lighting up the crowd with a superb points victory.

His team-mate Joedison Teixeira was also successful in the under 64kg event, beating Britain's Samuel Maxwell for gold.

Gidelson De Oliveira, meanwhile, overpowered Ecuadorian opponent Julio Castillo in an all-South American under 81kg duel.

Britain swiftly avenged Maxwell's loss, Chanetelle Cameron beating France's Estelle Mosley in the women's under 60kg final and Joshua Buatsi overcoming The Netherlands' Peter Mullenburg at under 91kg.

The pick of the British performances came in the final fight of the competition.

Frazer Clarke emerged as the super heavyweight successor to London 2012 winner Anthony Joshua, who has since turned professional, by beating Germany's Erik Pfeifer.

Lisa Whiteside was the only other Britain to miss out, losing to United States' Virginia Fuchs in the women's under 51kg final.

Japan’s Ryomei Tanaka and Uzbek hero Hasanboy Dusmatov defeated Brazilian opponents Julio Neto and Patrick Lourenco to claim under 51 and under 49kg titles respectively.

Murodjon Akhmadaliev secured a second Uzbek gold in an entertaining under 56kg win over Thailand's Chatchai Butdee.

Saylom Ardee gave Thai fans something to cheer, however, with a surprise victory over Morocco's world champion Mohammed Rabii in the under 69kg event.

Khadija Mardi secured Moroccan victory in the women's under 75kg competition, beating Brazil's Flavia Fogueiredo in the final.

Johan Gonzalez of Venezuela won the men's under 75kg final with a points victory over Germany's Xhek Paskali.

“I’m very confident that boxing will be one of the most exciting sports to follow in August 2016 for the enjoyment of fans from all over the world”, said AIBA President C K Wu after attending the tournament.

“It will no doubt be one of the most spectacular Olympic Games of all time and we look forward to welcoming the spectators to Rio.”
