USA Boxing has announced the 69-strong line-up for the United States men’s boxing Rio 2016 Olympic Trials, due to take place in Reno from December 7 to 12.

Eros Correa and Cam F. Awesome, both champions from the 2012 Olympic Trials, return in a bid to secure their place at next year's Olympic Games.

Correa will compete at flyweight, while Awesome is one of two athletes, along with Brandon Glanton, who must determine his weight division having qualified at heavyweight and super heavyweight.

Awesome is also one of two Toronto 2015 Pan American Games bronze medallists competing, along with bantamweight Francisco Martinez.

Flyweight Antonio Vargas, who won Toronto 2015 gold with victories over qualified Olympians from Cuba and Puerto Rico, features on the list too.

Meanwhile, bantamweight Shakur Stevenson enters the event as one of the most decorated junior and youth boxers in the world.

The 18-year-old is the first American male boxer to win both junior and youth world titles as well as Summer Youth Olympic Games gold in Nanjing last year.

Towering teenager Darmani Rock enjoyed success in the Youth Olympic Games as well, taking a silver medal in the super heavyweight division, and is in contention for a Rio 2016 berth.

Olympic bronze medal-winning flyweight Marlen Esparza will also compete in Reno, along with London 2012 sparring partner Gilbert Renteria and light heavyweight Steven Nelson, who worked with multiple athletes in preparation for the last Games.

Carlos Balderas has already received an Olympic allocation from the International Boxing Association based upon his finish in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) season, meaning the lightweight division will not be contested at the Olympic Trials.

USA Boxing is currently rewriting its Olympic selection procedures to allow a competition to be held to determine a replacement athlete should Balderas not be able to compete at Rio 2016.

The first four days of Olympic Trials competition are due to take place at the Silver Legacy Exposition Hall before final round action at the Reno Events Center on December 11 and 12.

The champions from the WSB and World Championship Team Trial in December 2014, and the 2015 USA Boxing National Championships in January, claimed the first spots in the Olympic Trials followed by the top two finishers in the three Pathway to Glory Men's Trials Qualifiers in June, September and October.
