Kinoplex has been named the official cinema of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, which will see the Brazilian chain carry campaign videos for the event in its theatrical screenings.

The cinema will also be able to use Paralympic marks and the image of the Paralympic mascot Tom in its promotional activities.

"The Kinoplex is proud to bring to all Brazilians a bit of inspirational stories of our Paralympic athletes, which can serve as an example and inspiration," said Kinoplex President Luiz Severiano Ribeiro.

In May of this year, the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) announced a partnership with Kinoplex to bring videos of Para-sport athletes to cinemas across the country.

The videos are part of the campaign #MudeoImpossível, created by CPB with the aim of showing that Paralympic athletes "make the impossible possible every day".

The initiative aims to enable millions of viewers to get to know the main Para-athletes in Brazil, such as 10-time Paralympic gold medal-winning swimmer Daniel Dias.

Approximately 200 movie theatres are also showing the stories of sprinters Veronica Hippolito, 200 metres T38 gold medallist at the 2013 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships in Lyon, and Terezinha Guilhermina, a three-time T11 Paralympic champion.

Five-a-side footballer Ricardo Alves features too along with powerlifter Marcia Menezes, boccia player Santos Maciel, wheelchair fencer Jovane Guissone, swimmer Joana Neves, table tennis player Bruna Alexandre and canoeist Fernando Fernandes.

The Rio 2016 Paralympic Games are scheduled to take place from September 7 to 18.
