World number one Novak Djokovic remains on course for a fourth consecutive ATP World Tour Finals title after easing past Rafael Nadal in their last-four encounter at the O2 Arena in London.

The Serb claimed a 6-3, 6-3 victory to advance to the final, where he will face six-time champion Roger Federer, winner of an all-Swiss clash tonight with Stan Wawrinka.

After holding in the opening game of the match, Djokovic struck four consecutive winners to break Nadal’s serve to love.

The 10-time Grand Slam winner comfortably saw out the set with the previously undefeated Nadal struggling to make any sort of impact on his serve.

Djokovic then came within a point of breaking again in the first game of the second set, but his Spanish opponent was eventually able to hold.

After the first four games had all gone to serve, Djokovic made the crucial breakthrough in game five by winning four successive points off Nadal's serve once more.

The 28-year-old went on to seal the match with another break, demonstrating his full repertoire of shots in game nine before clinching it with a backhand winner.

"It was a great performance," said Djokovic after the match.

"Right from the very beginning I was able to execute the game plan.

"Rafa was playing some great tennis this week but I was able to pull out my best tennis when it mattered the most."

Victory brings Djokovic level with Nadal at 23-23 in career meetings, having won eight of his last nine matches against the 14-time Grand Slam champion.

His final clash with Federer will continue a battle between the year's two outstanding players, as well as the duo who have dominated the last decade of World Tour Finals.

Federer beat his compatriot Wawrinka 7-5, 6-3 after overcoming an early 4-2 deficit to claim an emphatic 70 minute win.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion drew level at 4-4 before clinching the set with a second break.

He then never looked back, cruising into a 3-0 lead in the second before ruthlessly pressing home his advantage..

Djokovic has won four of his seven clashes with Federer in 2015, including in the Wimbledon and U.S. Open finals, but Federer beat the Serb 7-5, 6-2 earlier in the week in the round-robin to end a three-year and 38-match winning indoor record.
