UK Athletics has announced the Para-athletes who have been offered support through its 2015-16 World Class Performance Programme (WCPP).

Funded by the National Lottery through UK Sport, WCPP selection is based upon the potential to win medals at a Paralympic Games and is split into two levels; Podium - for athletes with the potential to medal at Rio 2016 - and Podium Potential - for athletes developing towards Tokyo 2020.

UK Athletics has invited 25 athletes to the Paralympic Podium programme, while an additional 27 athletes have been offered the opportunity to join the respective Podium Potential programme.

The Podium WCPP features all those that contributed to Great Britain’s haul of 13 gold medals at last month’s International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships in Doha, with the exception of women's 4x100 metres T35-38 team member Olivia Breen, who is in the relay squad.

Hannah Cockroft, who triumphed in the women’s 100m, 400m and 800m T34, is joined by Aled Davies, winner of the men’s discus throw and shot put F42, as well as the gold medallists in the women’s javelin throw F46 and men’s 800m T36, Hollie Arnold and Paul Blake respectively.

Also on the list is Joanna Butterfield, Kadeena Cox and Richard Whitehead, world champions in the women’s club throw F51, women’s 100m T37 and men’s 200m T42.

The three members of the women’s 4x100m T35-38 team who have been included are Maria Lyle, Sophie Hahn, winner of the women’s 100m T38, and Georgie Hermitage, gold medallist in the women’s 400m T37.

Among the Podium Potential WCPP selections is Kare Adenegan, a women’s 400m and 800m T34 bronze medallist in Qatar’s capital, as well as Moatez Jomni, Shaun Burrows and Samantha Kinghorn; third-place finishers in the men’s 200m T53, men’s 400m T38 and women’s 200m T53 respectively.

"2015 was an excellent year for the British Athletics team at the IPC World Championships in Doha, and I am confident those we have invited onto the 2015-16 WCPP will build on the foundations and successes achieved over the last 12 months," said Neil Black, UK Athletics' performance director.

"Our immediate focus is firmly on medals next year in Rio 2016, followed by London 2017 when we will host both the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) and IPC World Athletics Championships.

"From there, the attention shifts to Tokyo 2020.

"Our WCPP selections absolutely reflect that focus and all the athletes selected will be expected to fulfil tough performance criteria."

Daniel Bramall, Jonathan Broom-Edwards, Mickey Bushell, Kyron Duke, Toby Gold, Dan Greaves, Abbie Hunnisett, Sophie Kamlish, Dean Miller, Stephen Miller, Stephen Osborne, Melissa Nicholls, Jonnie Peacock, Stefanie Reid and Bethany Woodward complete the Podium WCPP list.

Rounding off the Podium Potential WCPP list is Joshua Bain, Samantha Bowen, Richard Chiassaro, Sabrina Fortune, Kylie Grimes, Claire Harvey, David Henson, Jordan Howe, Jade Jones, Rhys Jones, Simon Lawson, Polly Maton, Erin McBride, Holly Neill, Georgina Oliver, Derek Rae, Ben Rowlings, Sam Ruddock, Zachary Shaw, Will Smith, Laura Sugar, Isaac Towers and Bradley Wigley.
