The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has released the confirmed list of entrants for the upcoming UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters event in Mission Viejo, California, where American duo Nick Taylor and David Wagner will bid for a ninth quad doubles title.

Taylor and Wagner have dominated the season-ending event in recent years and their strongest challenge is likely to come from British pair Jamie Burdekin and Andy Lapthorne, who were runners-up at the 2014 competition.

The high-class entries list for the event, which runs from November 3 to 7, includes five Grand Slam winning doubles pairs across three categories, with reigning Wimbledon champions Gustavo Fernandez and Nicolas Peifer due to compete in the men's doubles.

Two-times Wheelchair Doubles Masters winners Joachim Gerard and Stephane Houdet of France will be aiming to defend the title they clinched in 2014 though, while the men’s doubles field also features Frenchman Michael Jeremiasz and Britain’s Gordon Reid, ranked at number two in the world in the singles division.

Japan’s Shingo Kunieda, who has won two Paralympic Games gold medals - in Beijing in 2008 and in London four years later - will also be hoping to spring a surprise alongside partner and compatriot Tayuka Miki.

Yui Kamiji and Jordanne Whiley, who have reigned supreme at the Wheelchair Doubles Masters on two occasions, head the six-strong field in the women’s doubles competition.

Current Roland Garros and US Open champions Jiske Griffioen and Aniek van Koot of The Netherlands are set to mount a strong assault on the title following a superb year, while Germany’s Sabine Ellerbrock and Lucy Shuker of Britain will also fancy their chances.

The two Dutch players have recently taken part in an exhibition event in Mission Viejo in a bid to ramp up excitement for the tournament.

The top eight men’s and six highest-ranked women’s teams qualified for the tournament, with the four quad doubles pairings being selected based on combined doubles rankings at the ranking cut-off date of September 28.
