Hosts China came from behind against South Korea to make it two wins out of two at the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Asia Women’s Championship in Wuhan.

Tom Maher’s side found themselves trailing 29-27 at half-time of the Group A encounter, but fought back strongly after the interval to win the third and fourth quarters convincingly on their way to a 74-58 success.

Ting Shao was China’s star performer, notching an impressive 18-point haul to condemn their opponents, the 2013 runners-up, to a second loss of the tournament.

Elsewhere in Group A, defending champions Japan also maintained their 100 per cent start with a 131-31 drubbing of India.

Rui Machida clocked up a superb 16 assists for the holders, while Mika Kurihara scored six of 17 triples and Mio Shinozaki posted 25 points with a 10 out of 13 overall shooting effort.

There was also a second victory for Chinese Taipei, who beat Thailand 113-42 thanks mainly to a strong middle two quarters as Hsi-Le Bao, better known as Joy Burke, collated 13 points and pulled down 10 boards.

"The important thing at this level is we need to do the best thing all the time," said Chinese Taipei coach Otis Hughley Junior.

"But we end up doing what's good for that time.

"For me, this 'good' thing is the enemy of the 'best' thing.

"I think she [Burke] is helping us bridge that gap."

Meanwhile in Group B, the Philippines picked up their first win after overturning a 16-point deficit to secure a 68-67 success against North Korea.

Cindy Resultay claimed 14 points and seven rebounds, including what proved to be a game-winning play inside the last minute.

Pik Yi Lam and Hi Lui Tong shared 42 points to help Hong Kong get off the mark with a 72-52 victory against Sri Lanka, while Oxana Ossipenko’s 21 points and 10 rebounds was influential in Kazakhstan’s 73-65 triumph against fellow opening day victors Malaysia.

The action in Wuhan continues tomorrow with all 12 teams due to play their third matches.

In Group A, South Korea take on Thailand before Chinese Taipei's clash with Japan and China's meeting with India.

The Philippines and Sri Lanka will contest the day's opening Group B encounter, followed by Hong Kong's match against Malaysia and North Korea's tie with Kazakhstan.
