Home favourite Vladimir Lypavskiy rounded off the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Nations Cup Grand Final with open division success in Vladivostok.

Lypayskiy and fellow finalist Evan Walker of Australia were the stand-out performers throughout the regatta, with their only defeats being inflicted on one another.

Walker came through his semi-final against the United States’ Russel Silvestri 3-0, and not to be outdone, Lypayskiy also took a 3-0 win in his penultimate encounter with France's Pierre Rhimbault.

After two matches of the final the pair found themselves all square at 1-1, but spurred on by moving ahead in the third, Lypayskiy took confidence into the fourth and finally got the break that proved the difference to secure a 3-1 triumph.

"This win means so much to me as the rank of the event is very high and I'm very proud that it takes place in Vladivostok, Russia, in my home town," said Lypavskiy.

"We were a bit under pressure as we felt that we are expected to win.

"We were so happy to win."

Rhimbault came out on top in the third-place match up with a 2-1 win over Silvestri.
