Rio 2016 quota places will be on the line when the second round of International Boxing Association (AIBA) Pro Boxing (APB) Cycle I action continues in Guiyang, China, on July 10.

A total of 40 bouts will take place across all 10 weight categories with the boxers in the top tier of competition also battling for the opportunity to fight their respective APB champions in September’s world title matches.

“The beginning of APB Cycle I round two represents an amazing opportunity for boxing fans all over the world to catch an early viewing of some of the world class competitors who will be competing in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games,” said AIBA President C K Wu.

“Through APB, we are providing every boxer with the opportunity to cultivate a transparent professional career in boxing while also maintaining their eligibility for Olympic competition, and round two will signify this perfectly when 10 boxers qualify for Rio 2016 in an APB ring.”

APB Cycle I matches consists of round one, Olympic qualification round and world title matches.

Matches comprise eight rounds in rounds one and two, and 12 rounds in world title matches.

APB was launched last September with an official draw in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The draw decided the match-up in each weight category for the APB pre-ranking phase, which established the official APB pre-ranking - the basis for the match-up for the APB ranking phase that started in December 2014.

The APB inaugural title matches took place from January 23 to February 19 and determined the first APB champion per weight category.

Matches will be available live on APB’s YouTube channel by clicking here, as well as on local TV channels in some territories.
