Baku 2015 has signed a broadcast deal with Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) ensuring that viewers in the country will be able to tune into the inaugural European Games.

The Games will be shown by the public free-to-air broadcaster, which has a reach of three million households across Serbia and holds the rights to the Olympic Games and UEFA Champions League football.

Serbia joins an extensive list of countries that will be able to watch the European Games with Baku 2015 having already signed agreements with broadcasters in nations including Australia, Great Britain, Latin America, India, Hong Kong and others in the Arab world.

"Baku 2015 set out to secure the widest possible coverage of the inaugural European Games to help establish a viable brand, and share the excitement with as many viewers as possible, in Europe and beyond,” said Simon Clegg, Baku 2015 chief operating officer.

“This latest agreement shows the great enthusiasm for the Games, and I am delighted that fans in Serbia will be able to follow their athletes.

“Serbia has a strong sporting tradition, and we expect great things from their competitors next month in Baku.”

Vladan Ckrkic, RTS programme director, added: “We have always supported the promotion of sports, and are very glad to be part of such an event, especially the inaugural edition.”

Earlier this week, Baku 2015 announced deals with Iranian company General Entertainment and Media Television, and Croatian station Sportska Televizija.

Confidence is also high that a broadcasting agreement will be reached in Russia, with Clegg telling insidethegames earlier this month that negotiations are ongoing.
