Italy’s Eleonora Sarti built on her world record display in the qualification round by taking gold in the women's compound category at the Para-archery international ranking event in Almere, The Netherlands.

Sarti, who shot 675 points in the early stages of the competition, beat Marina Lyzhnikova of Russia 138-134 in the final.

There were two Russians on the podium as Stepanida Artakhinova won bronze with a 144-139 success over Sweden’s Zandra Reppe.

In the men’s compound/recurve W1 category, Czech Republic's David Drahoninsky, who also broke a world record in qualifying, claimed gold thanks to a 136-132 triumph against Italy's Fabio Azzolini.

Drahoninsky was the standout performer throughout the week in Almere and produced an excellent display in the final.

Elsewhere, Britain were in superb form as they secured a haul of three gold medals.

Michael Hall, competing in his first international tournament, won the men’s compound open category as he edged out Italy's Matteo Bonacina 138-136 in what proved to be a tight contest, while bronze went to Slovakia’s Marcel Pavlik.

Frith then went on to clinch team gold in the W1 mixed team final, alongside John Walker, thanks to success against Russia’s Elena Krutova and Konstantin Donskoi.

Poland’s Piotr Sawicki topped the podium in the open recurve men division by beating Anton Zaypaev of Russia, and Elisabetta Mijno won Italy’s second gold of the day in the women’s open recurve competition.
