The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has signed a deal with South Korean broadcaster SBS Sports, which will show highlights of this month’s World Championships among other major WTF-promoted events.

The agreement, which will also see SBS Sports provide technical services relating to broadcasting, was penned by WTF President Chungwon Choue and SBS Sports  President and chief executive Hwan-sik Yoo during a ceremony held at SBS Prism Tower in Seoul.

"With the strategic partnership with SBS Sports, we expect a quality broadcasting of taekwondo competitions," said Choue.

As well as showing the key moments from the World Championships, scheduled to take place in Chelyabinsk, Russia next week from May 12 to 18, the company will also provide highlights of the WTF World Grand Prix Series and Finals, both this year and next.

The 2015 Series is due to get underway in the Russian capital of Moscow from August 14 to 16, before moving onto Samsun, Turkey from September 18 to 20, and then Manchester, England from October 16 to 18, ahead of the Grand Prix Final in Mexico City from December 5 to 6.

The second Grand Prix event of the year was due to be held in Doha, Qatar but recent changes to the WTF calendar have seen it revert to Samsun.

As an Olympic Broadcasting Service team, SBS Sports was responsible for producing international signals for taekwondo and archery at the London 2012 Olympic Games and is set to fulfil the same role at Rio 2016.
