As national supporter, the German telecommunications company provides DBS Top Team athletes with ideal preparation for their competitions, and supports them in achieving their professional ambitions beyond their athletic careers, it is claimed.

"Deutsche Telekom has been a devoted and valued partner and we are looking forward to be counting on this relationship further in the future," said DBS President Friedhelm Julius Beucher.

"The continuation of this cooperation is especially important for the Paralympic athletes, who benefit directly from this engagement, as a sign of support and appreciation."

The DBS Top Team is financed by Deutsche Telekom and Allianz, and seeks to provide more financial independence in order for athletes to have more time for training and competitions.

In January, a total of 46 athletes were selected as part of the Team for the Rio 2016 Summer and Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Games.

"Everyday our Paralympic athletes prove what it means to work hard towards a big goal," said Stefan Althoff, vice-president of sponsoring at Deutsche Telekom.

"They need professionalism, team spirit and discipline.

"All of this makes athletes with an impairment role models whose engagement and activities Deutsche Telekom enjoys to support."

Deutsche Telekom has supported the DBS since 2006, the same year in which the Top Team was first initiated during the Winter Paralympics in Turin.
