Pentathlon GB has announced a sponsorship deal with elite swimwear brand blueseventy ©Pentathlon GBPentathlon GB has announced a sponsorship deal with elite swimwear brand blueseventy, which will see the team through two competitive seasons, including the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Blueseventy, a New Zealand brand which has 30 years of experience in all areas of swimming, has pledged its support for Pentathlon GB by providing podium and podium potential squads with competition and training swimwear until the end of December 2016.

The news has come at an ideal time for Pentathlon GB, with Rio 2016 qualification up for grabs at the upcoming International Federation of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) World Cup Final in Minsk, Belarus from June 11 to 14.

This is closely followed by the European Championships, scheduled to take place at Pentathlon GB's national training base at the University of Bath from August 18 to 23, providing eight direct qualification places for Rio 2016.

"This blueseventy sponsorship is another step on our journey to the Olympics in Rio in just 18 months," said Nigel Laughton, chief executive of Pentathlon GB.

"For the athletes to know they are supported by such a quality swim brand that boasts the latest technology in performance swimwear, will give them great confidence.

"The timing couldn't be better, ahead of so many crucial events this season and Rio qualifying competitions looming.

"Great swimming times are vital to our athletes and having blueseventy on board for the next two years is a significant boost."

The experience garnered by blueseventy has seen it become market leaders in competition swimwear, with world-class athletes relying on them to help them swim faster, whatever their discipline.

"Modern Pentathlon is a great blend of the traditional and the cutting edge and we are very excited to be supporting some of Britain's finest athletes within Pentathlon GB," said Rebecca Jenkins from blueseventy, whose British base is in Bath.

"We are sure that our nero race suits can become part of their ritual and give them another performance edge."

The announcement of the deal comes just a few weeks after tickets went on sale for the European Championships.

"It is not every day that live Olympic sport is on the doorstep, so we are hoping that local people will join those coming from around the country to cheer our athletes on," said event director Kara Luck.

"This is a crucial event on the Road to Rio for the GB pentathletes as well as being an exciting spectacle."

During breaks in the competition action there will be options to try out individual disciplines, while an event village of stands and displays are aimed at adding to the experience.

Under 18's are welcome from only £1 ($1.50/€1.40) a day.
