Lapthorne booked his place in the final after ending Dylan Alcott's superb start to 2015, in which the Australian has won both the Australian Open and Pensacola Open titles, after their semi-final match went the distance.

Having lost in each of their last seven meetings, Lapthorne made the perfect start in trying to end that particular run by winning the opening set 6-3 and although Alcott fought back to win the second set 6-1, Lapthrone took the decisive third set 6-2 to seal his win.

The Briton will now face world number one Wagner after the American clinched a straight sets 6-4, 6-0 victory over defending champion Jamie Burdekin, another Briton, in rematch between last year's finalists.

Wagner was also victorious in the quad doubles semi-final alongside Nick Taylor as the American duo overcame their compatriots Bryan Barten and Greg Hasterok 6-2 6-3, to set up a final against Burdekin and Lapthorne after they saw off the challenge of Guatemala's Julio Rueda and Brazil's Ymanitu Silva 6-3, 6-1.

There will be further British representatives in the women's wheelchair singles final, at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Series 1 event, with Lucy Shuker and Jordanne Whiley due to meet in the semi-finals after recording straight set wins over Germany's Katharina Kruger and Chile's Francisca Mardones respectively.

Germany's top seed Sabine Ellerbrock advanced to the second semi-final after beating South Africa's Kgothatso Montjane 6-4, 6-4, and will now face Marjolein Buis after see won her all-Dutch quarter-final against Michaela Spaanstra 6-2, 6-2.

Michael Jeremiasz of France is the last remaining unseeded player in the men's singles competition as the former world number one booked his place in the semi-final with a 6-4, 6-4 win over The Netherlands Maikel Scheffers.

Jeremiasz will face Joachim Gerard for a place in the final, after the Belgian secured a 6-0, 6-1 win over South Africa's Evans Maripa.

Nicholas Peifer defeated America's Jon Rydberg 6-1, 6-3, to become the second Frenchman to make the semi-finals, but he will now face a stern test in tomorrow's match against reigning champion Gordon Reid after  the Briton clinched a 6-2, 6-4 over Sweden's Stefan Olsson.
