Alnakhli competing in the F33/34 discus event threw 29.50 metres with his penultimate attempt to set a world record, with his total of 892 points well clear of home favourite Mohamed Ali Krid and Algeria's Kamel Kardjena, second and third with 760 and 311 points respectively.

Algeria's Safia Djelal continued her domination of the women's field events, backing up her world record in yesterday's javelin competition, by taking gold in the women's shot put F55/56/57.

Djelal securing 987 points following her throw of 10.53m, ahead of fellow Algerians Nassima Saifi and Nadia Medjmedj, who took silver and bronze.

Karim Betina claimed victory in the men's F32 discus competition with a 16.15m throw as Algeria continued to perform well in the field events, while Kuwait's Mohammad Nasser finished second with 12.41m.

Further Algerian success was achieved on the track as world champion Samir Nouioua cruised to victory in the men's 1500 metres T20/46 in style, with his time of 4min 09.62sec six seconds faster than his nearest rival, while compatriot Sofiane Hamdi won the 200m T35/36/37/38 event.

Algeria's Abdellatif Baka and Tunisia's Abbes Saidi added 1500m triumphs to their 800m victories earlier yesterday, with Baka posting a time of 4:05.83 to win the men's T13 race, while world silver medallist Saidi won the T37/38 category race in 4:23.0.

Home success continued as Walid Ktila clinched his third victory of the Grand Prix, as the quadruple world champion won the men's T33/34 200m in 28.4sec ahead of Kuwait's T33 world record holder Ahmad Almutairi, who posted a time of 32.00.

Yassine Gharbi and Fethi Zourinkhi added further medals to the hosts collection, with Gharbi winning the men's T52/53/54 200m in 27.27sec, but he was beaten by Zouinkhi to the T54 1500m title, finishing a second behind his compatriot's winning time of 3:50.5.

On a day where Algeria and the hosts Tunisia dominated, Turkey's Oguz Akbulut and Nigeria's Unyime Uwak were rare successes for other nations, with Akbulut earning victory in the men's T11/12 1500m in 4:16.98, while Uwak won the women's 100m T20/36/37/38/47 race in 13.41.

The Grand Prix in Tunis draws to a close tomorrow, with the Chinese capital Beijing set to host the next leg of the nine event series from April 15 to 17.
