2018 Winter Paralympics hosts South Korea recorded a record-breaking victory to stay top of the table ©Getty ImagesSouth Korea claimed a record-breaking victory over Poland on the second day of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships B-Pool to maintain their unbeaten start in Östersund, Sweden.

Having fired in nine goals in the opening day demolition of Austria, South Korea went further against Poland, sweeping past their opposition to earn a 15-0 win, more than any other side have managed in a single game at a World Championships, including the A-Pool tournament.

There was further joy for Seung-Hwan Jung, who, after claiming a hat-trick against Austria, earned himself another four goals to keep him at the top of the tournament goal-scoring charts, while his team mate Min-Su Han also claimed a treble.

In the clash of the unbeaten sides, hosts Sweden were able to topple Slovakia, helped by taking a two goal lead in the opening period of the match, through Robin Meng and Per Kasperi.

Despite Miroslav Stasak reducing the arrears in the second period, Sweden were able to add three further goals to take the victory 5-1.

The result sees them remain behind South Korea on goal difference, but sees them maintain their position in one of two promotion spots available to the top division.

After suffering defeats in their first fixtures, it was therefore imperative for Austria and Britain to pick up their first victory of the tournament, in order to stay within touching distance of Sweden and South Korea.

The match proved to be a tense affair, with only three goals scored during the three periods of play.

Britain took the lead through Tyler Christopher in the opening period and he added another in the third period to all but seal the result, although match was put back in the balance as Martin Pachoining scored Austria's first goal of the tournament, but they were unable to claim a late leveller.

Britain will hope to draw level on points with Sweden, whom they meet tomorrow and South Korea will hope to continue their scoring form against Slovakia.

Austria and Poland will both attempt to get off the mark when they meet in the first game of the day in a potentially crucial match, as they try to avoid the relegation place, which would see them drop to World Championship C-Pool.
