Kristoffersen registered a combined time of 1min 41.26sec to finish 0.24 seconds ahead of Italy's Giuliano Razzoli and 0.86 clear of Sweden's Mattias Hargin and end the regular slalom season as he started it in Levi, Finland.

Sitting in third after the first run, the 20-year-old produced a flawless second run to ensure his 10th career podium.

"Kranjska Gora is a nice hill," said Kristoffersen.

"I think it looks kind of easy on TV because the speed is so high, but it's not that easy.

"Second run was a little rough but I tried to push it the whole way.

"I was on the limit 10 gates from the finish, but that's slalom at the moment.

"You've got to push it."

The result sees Kristoffersen climb to third place in the discipline standings, but with 122 points separating him and leader Felix Neureuther of Germany, who finished ninth in Kranjska Gora, the title is beyond him.

Sandwiched between the two is Hirscher, who recovered from a mistake in his first run, to post the fastest second-run time and take sixth spot.

The 40 points earned by the Austrian increases his overall World Cup lead to 164 points with four races remaining at the World Cup Finals in Méribel, France, next week.

The slalom title looks as though it could be beyond him however, with 55 points splitting him and Neureuther ahead of the season-ending race next Sunday (March 22).

Neureuther needs to come fourth or better to guarantee success.
