Serena Williams will be the defending women's champion in 2015 ©Getty ImagesThe US Tennis Association (USTA) has announced it has signed a multi-year partnership with coffee brand Lavazza, which will see them become an official promotional partner of the US Open Championships.


Under the terms of the agreement Lavazza will be the exclusive coffee of the Championships with spectators able to purchase refreshments at the new Lavazza café.

Additionally, the coffee will be distributed as various restaurants, concessions and hospitality areas located throughout the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre.

Lavazza have also been an official coffee partner of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships  since 2011.

"Partnering with Lavazza truly embodies the US Open's global connection with prestigious, iconic brands," said Lew Sheer, chief revenue officer of the USTA.

"We look forward to supporting Lavazza's efforts to build awareness in North America and working together to introduce their savoury coffee offerings to our fans."

Giuseppe Lavazza, group vice-president of Lavazza, said "Starting this year, tennis enthusiasts who attend the US Open will not only have the chance to watch some exciting tennis featuring the finest players in the world, but also to take an all-Italian break and enjoy a delicious cup of authentic coffee."

"The agreement, which forms part of the internationalisation strategy pursued by the Italian company and brand, underlines our intention to make the United States our second home and to consolidate the relationship between Lavazza and expressions of excellence the world over."

The 2015 edition of the tournament, first held in 1881, is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 13.

Croatia's Marin Čilić will be the defending men's singles champion, while American Serena Williams currently holds the women's title having triumphed at last year's tournament.
