Corniche in Abu Dhabi will host the 2015 FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final ©Getty ImagesAbu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates will host the 2015 and 2016 International Basketball Association (FIBA) 3x3 World Tour Finals, it has been announced.

The 2015 edition will be staged outdoors at the Corniche, a high-traffic leisure area situated on the shores of the Arab Gulf, on October 15 and 16.

It will be organised in cooperation with FIBA by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council together with EXTRA International Sport and Sport Arena, an international promoter who has been one of the pioneers in the development of 3x3.

The tournament will feature the top four 3x3 basketball teams from the season's World Tour, offering the pinnacle of one of the world's fastest developing sports, which is currently eyeing inclusion in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. 

The Tour consists of six Masters events, before culminating with the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final, which was held in Miami in 2012, Istanbul in 2013 and Tokyo in 2014.

A total prize pool of $200,000 ($131,000/€170,000) will be shared among the Tour's winners for the 2015 season.

Serbia's Team Novi Sad claimed the top prize in the last edition of the Tour.

The 2015 edition of the World Tour Final coincides with an eventful year for 3x3 basketball.

Not only will the fourth edition of the FIBA 3x3 under 18 World Championships be taking place in Hungary from June 4 to 7, but the sport will also feature in the inaugural European Games in Baku from June 23 to 26, and in the third edition of the FIBA 3x3 All Stars in Qatar in December.
