The 25-year-old German, who had a winless December, was quickest in both runs and his combined time of 1min 39.716sec saw him finish 0.755 clear of teammate Andi Langenhan and 0.809 ahead of the United States' Chris Mazdzer.

Loch tops the World Cup rankings with 463 points, while Italy's Dominik Fischnaller, who finished 13th in Königssee, is second with 366 points and Langenhan third with 323 points.

"Winning in front of such a great audience is fantastic," Loch told the FIL.

"I had two really good runs that couldn't be faulted.

"I got through Christmas without putting on weight, but didn't lose any, either.

"I was a bit ill, but that's all."

There was further success for Loch in the team relay as he and his compatriots, Natalie Geisenberger and doubles pairing Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt, were all fastest in their individual runs.

A time of 2:44.493 could not be matched by the United States - Emily Sweeney, Mazdzer and doubles team Matthew Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman - or Canada - Alex Gough, Samuel Edney and doubles team Tristan Walker and Justin Snith - who finished second and third in 2:45.895 and 2:46.394 respectively. 

Germany, the defending champions, lead the overall rankings with 200 points, followed by the United States with 155 points and Italy with 135 points. 

The next World Cup race is also due to be held in Germany in Oberhof in the Thuringian Forest on January 17 and 18.

The Königssee artificial track is also scheduled to host the 2016 FIL World Championships.
