The sport has featured at the Asian Para Games since 2010 in Guangzhou with China winning the first gold before Iran captured the title at the 2014 Games in Incheon.

China continued to show their worth on the international stage at the 2010 International Blind Sport Federation World Blind Football Championship where they came third at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford, England.

They almost repeated the feat at the 2014 World Championships in Tokyo but lost to European champions Spain on penalties in the bronze medal playoff.
