The 26-year-old London 2012 champion made history in South Korea when he broke his own world record three times on his way to gold in the men's over 107 kilograms category to finish with a final lift of 292kg, seven kilograms more than his previous best.

Rahman, who first appeared on the international powerlifting scene at the 2010 Asian Para Games in Guangzhou, where he won gold in the men's over 100kg category, earned 63.9 per cent of the public vote to secure the Athlete of the Month title.

Following his debut in China, the athlete went on to win silver in the same category at the IPC Powerlifting World Championships in Kuala Lumpur, in the same year, before claiming his first Paralympic title with the over 100kg gold - which he secured in a Paralympic record of 280kg - at London 2012.

Earlier this year, he set a world record of 285kg as he won the men's over 107kg category at the IPC Powerlifting World Championships in Dubai.

In the IPC Athlete of the Month contest, Rahman topped compatriot, shooter Sareh Javanmardidodmani, who received 34.3 per cent of the vote after breaking two world records on her way to double gold in the P2 women's 10m pistol SH1 and P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1 at Incheon 2014.
