The Lillehammer Curling Arena will host the qualifying event for next year's Wheelchair Curling World Championships ©Lillehammer Curling ArenaA qualification tournament for next year's World Wheelchair Curling Championships started today in Lillehammer.


The event, which is due to conclude on Thursday (November 6), will see the top two teams qualify for the World Championship, due to take Lohja, Finland, next February.

Eight teams are taking part in the tournament at the Lillehammer Curling Arena, led by hosts Norway.

They are in group B alongside Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland. 

Group A contains the Czech Republic, Denmark, Israel, Japan, Latvia and South Korea. 

The top seven placed teams from the 2013 World Wheelchair Curling Championships, held in Sochi, plus hosts Finland, have already qualified automatically for the 2015 event scheduled to be held at the Kisakallio Sports Institute from February 7 to 14.

The top seven teams were winners Canada, silver and bronze medallists Sweden and China, along with United States, Russia, Scotland and Slovakia.
