Louis Vega is taking over from veteran George Hamilton as Dow's vice-president of Olympic Operations ©The Dow Chemcial CompanyLouis Vega, the Dow Chemical Company's chief of staff, global director and chief executive, has widened his responsibilities to include the role of vice-president of Olympic Operations, the role which George Hamilton has filled for the last four years.


Hamilton has announced that he is stepping down after 37 years of service for the company which was recently named Official Carbon Partner for the Rio 2016 Games.

As part of his role, Vega will engage Host Committees for upcoming Olympic Games up to, and including Tokyo 2020, and will be Dow's main focal point for the International Olympic Committee.

Vega will be responsible for extracting the full business and brand value of Dow's partnership with the Olympic Games; capturing new revenue and continuing to develop a business structure uniquely positioned to provide technologies and innovations to help improve the Olympic experience for host territories, athletes and fans everywhere.

"Louis will bring a fresh approach and point of view to increasing the business value of Dow's Olympic Games partnership," said Heinz Haller, president of Dow Europe, Middle East and Africa, and executive vice-president in charge of Olympic Operations.

"He will build upon George's great success with his intimate knowledge of the Company, our strategy and of our Customers."

Vega, who will continue to serve as chief of staff, joined Dow in 1998 as a global business communications leader, assuming the role of Dow's global media relations leader specifically for the Company's merger with Union Carbide.

Since then he has advanced through roles in the Public & Government Affairs function around the world, including Horgen in Switzerland; Washington D.C.; Dubai, Midland and New York City.

Before joining Dow, Vega's career spanned a variety of roles on Capitol Hill.
