Sweden will contest both the men's and women's finals at the IBSA Goalball European Championships ©Kalocsai RichárdSweden have secured a place in the finals of both the men's and women's competitions at the International Blind Sports Federation Goalball European Championships Men & Women B in Budapest.

The Swedish men came through a tight contest against a resilient Ukraine side to emerge with a 4-3 victory to set-up a final clash with Slovenia, who continued their superb run in the Hungarian capital with a 10-8 win over Israel.

The Israelis had been slight favourites coming into the game did not have it all their own, however, as Slovenia started off strongly and were determined to secure a shot at the gold medal.

Israel rallied but their opponents showed their class to eventually retake the lead and hold on for victory.

In the other men's matches, Poland secured fifth place with a 9-8 win over hosts Hungary, while Denmark finished seventh overall with a 7-6 win over Portugal.

On the women's side, Sweden and Denmark will square-up in an all-Scandinavian decider after seeing off Hungary and Greece respectively.

The Swedes dented any hopes of a home gold medal after overcoming Hungary 2-0, while the Danes cruised to a 4-1 win over the Greeks.

A 5-1 win over Belgium saw Great Britain claim fifth place in the final women's standings.

The final day of action in Budapest tomorrow will see Greece take on Hungary and Israel play Ukraine in the bronze medal matches, before the Championships draw to a close with the gold medal games.
