USA Triathlon has announced the results of its 2013 elections ©USA TriathlonMarch 8 - Three incumbents and two new candidates have been announced as USA Triathlon Board of Directors in a re-vote of the organisation's 2013 election results.

Although it was insisted that "nothing untoward" occurred in the original 2013 elections, a mistake necessitated a partial re-vote of elite athletes before the discovery of a further error triggered a membership-wide revote.

The three elected incumbents were Susan Haag, who represents the Florida Region, Mike Wein from the south-east and Steve Sexton as an elite athlete representative.

Kevin Haas was also appointed as a new south-west region representative, and former athlete member David Kuendig for the mid-east, with all serving four year terms except for Sexton, who will serve for two years.

Two seats on the Athlete Advisory Council have also been filled - with one of the positions taken by the London 2012 Olympian and the recently announced 2013 US female Triathlete of the Year Gwen Jorgensen.

Jorgensen became the first American woman to win an International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Triathlon Series event when she took gold on home turf in San Diego in April last year.

She was elected for a two-year term along with Para-triathlete Joel Rosinbum, while Sexton also retains his seat by virtue of his Board election.

Nine regions also elected members to their respective USA Triathlon Regional Councils, while two national by-law proposals and one resolution were approved.
