The 28-year-old from Coventry, who also took bronze at Beijing 2008, followed up his semi-final win over Russia's Anatoly Shevchenko by securing ippon over Tropinov in just 20 seconds to retain the title he won on home soil in Crawley in 2011.

"I'm delighted to have successfully retained my title and I'm looking forward to the rest of this Paralympic cycle," said Ingram, who's older brother Joe is a European and World Championship silver medallist in visually impaired judo also.

"I'm now looking ahead to the British Championships next week, where I hope to put in another good performance before enjoying Christmas."

"Overall it has been a successful and positive week for VI [visually impaired] judo," said Great Britain coach Jean-Paul Bell.

"The team spirit has been both good and professional and with the EJU (European Judo Union) involved in the organisation, the event has been great and the judo has again increased in level from London.

"The GB performances were very good and on another day we could have, and probably will, come home with a handful of medals.

"For a vast majority of the team this was their first major VI event and all equipped themselves extremely well, with strong performances fighting for medals and gaining wins over established Paralympians."
