CPC logoJanuary 25 - The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) has invited sport organisations and clubs across the country to start applying for the 2013-2014 grant rounds of both the Para-Equipment Fund and the Recruitment Programme Fund.

The Para-Equipment Fund delivers grants of up to $5,000 (£3,124/€3,900) to national and provincial sport organisations as well as local-level clubs to purchase adapted equipment for sports such as wheelchair basketball, ice sledge hockey or skiing for people with visual impairments.

Grants are awarded to cover 50 per cent of the total cost of the equipment with the applicant responsible for the other 50 per cent, while the Para-Equipment Fund is supported by the Government of Canada's Sport Support Programme and Invacare Canada.

Meanwhile, the Recruitment Programme Fund, which is also supported by the Government of Canada's Sport Support Programme, awards grants of up to $10,000 (£6,000/€8,000) to sports organisations.

It is designed to financially support the creation of a new sports programme or the expansion of an existing successful programme that provides a positive introductory sports experience for participants with a disability.

"Funds may be used towards enhancing programme options, such as facility rental space, coaching, volunteer training and more," said a CPC statement.

"The deadline to submit applications is February 19, 2013."
