The National Olympic Committee launched the new sponsorship programme, which will fund the athletes for two years, after receiving support from a number of corporate sponsors, such as Dahin Development, the JSL Group, Bei Tien E Construction, Hung Kuo Group, Ming Wei Construction, Mao De Construction, Hi Yes, Zhu Feng Company, Sen Yuan Company, Imperial Hotel Taipei, Sun Land Company and Highwealth Construction.

Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee President Hong-Dow Lin developed the initiative following the nation's success at both Nanjing 2014 and the Incheon 2014 Asian Games, where the country secured a total of eight and 51 medals respectively.

"This win-win programme is just a milestone to arouse enterprises' concern about athletes in Taiwan," he said.

"We look forward to more partners to join us to make this programme a workable mechanism to build a better training environment for our elite athletes and Olympic hopefuls."

As well as Chiang, weightlifters Shu-Ching Hsu, Tzu-Chi Lin - both gold medallists at Incheon 2014 - and World Championships gold medallist Hsing-Shun Kuo will be supported under the programme.

Joining Huang in taekwondo will be Asian Games gold medal winner Yun-Wen Huang, Incheon silver medallist Wan-Ting Lin and Incheon bronze medallist Chia-Chia Chuang.

Elsewhere, golfer Ssu-Chia Cheng, boxer Nien-Chin Chen, shooters Chia-Ying Wu and Yi-Tzu Tu Yi, archer Chien-Ying Le, badminton players Tien-Chen Chou, Tzu-Ying Tai and Chia-Hsin Lee, table tennis players Szu-Yu Chen and Cheng-Ting Liao, and tennis players Tung-Lin Wu and I-Hsuan Cho will also be funded under the scheme.

The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee hopes to expand the programme in the future to benefit at least 100 elite athletes per year.
