The nomination period for all member associations of the Federation will run from November 11 to December 12, before the public voting announcement is made on January 10.

The public voting period will run from January 10 to February 9, with the Awards presentation ceremony due to place at the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on March 16.

To encourage public involvement and active participation in the event, the Federation will continue to organise public voting through the website.

Sports reporters from local media organisations will also be invited to vote for their favourite athletes.

Timothy Fok Tsun-ting, President of the Federation, Pang Chung, honorary secretary general of the Federation, Richard Wong Tat-ming, assistant director of Hong Kong's leisure and cultural services department, Lawrence Chow, chief marketing officer of Samsung Electronics Hong Kong, and Vivien Lau, the chairperson of the Awards' Organising Committee, were all in attendance at the Olympic House.

Fok delivered an opening speech expressing his thanks to Samsung Electronics Hong Kong for being the title sponsor of the Awards for the second consecutive year.

He also appealed to national sports associations to support the event by nominating their athletes.

Past awardees made their presence felt at the event, including squash player Annie Au Wing Chi, windsurfer Kwok Fai Cheng, swimmer Siobhan Bernadette Haughey, rower Lok Kwan-hoi and Hong Kong's men's 4x100 metres relay team, while windsurfer Hei Man Hayley Victoria Chan was the mistress of ceremony.
