Stoute and other top BOA officials met with the Presidents and secretaries of various sporting bodies in the Caribbean Island nation during 2014, exchanging views on the development of the sport in the country and exploring ways for further cooperation.

"Our National Federations have a number of issues in common," said Stoute.

"The lunchtime meetings not only give the representatives of the federations an opportunity outside of the Annual General Meeting to meet with me and other executive members.

"But they also give the PHelresidents an opportunity to network with each other and see how best they can solve problems and share resources."

Two such meetings have already taken place so far this year, with representatives from the sports of chess, cycling, equestrian, fencing, football, golf and gymnastics.

The meetings were introduced in the wake of Barbados' performance at last year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where there only medal came in the 110 metres hurdles where Shane Braithwaite won a bronze. 

It was their first medal since Melbourne 2006.

A major challenge raised by these bodies involves the long wait for approvals from Town and Country Planning organisations to develop the sport, with neither fencing nor gymnastics even having a headquarters building.

Although he admitted that a lot of work remains to be done, Stoute reassured the Federations that the BOA is "on the pulse" of what is happening and is working to improve the local infrastructure daily.
