An international workshop has been held in Peru to support the inclusion in sport ©POCThe Peruvian Institute of Sport, through the national directorate of training and sport technique, has successful conducted the first international workshop on sports inclusion, the Peruvian Olympic Committee has announced.

The workshop aimed to improve the technical and scientific capabilities of officials who work with sportsmen and women with physical disabilities.

In attendance at the event was the Peruvian Institute of Sport's director of training Pilar Espinoza Galarcep, along with the President of National Sports Federation for Persons with Disabilities María Luisa Sarmiento, project coordinator of the British Embassy Claudia Celis, President of the National Council for the integration of persons with disabilities Wilfredo Guzmán Jara, and Ken Black, founding director of the Inclusion Club.

The idea behind this second instalment of the international workshop was to establish guidelines on the intervention and training of Peruvian people with a disability.

To do this, the workshop looked at training the officials and coaches responsible for working with people with disabilities within the world of sport, giving guidance to help further develop the work being done to improve the sporting opportunities for this group of people.

"This initiative from the international workshop on inclusive sport will go forward here," said the director of training at the Peruvian Institute of Sport, Espinoza.

"Through the Peruvian Institute of Sport and its President Francisco Boza Dibos, we will perform development tasks for persons with disabilities so they become part of the sports society in our country."
